Torn between a vampire and a werewolf
During Edward's absence in Book II, Bella developed strong ties with Jacob and was torn between her desire for the vampire and her affections toward the werewolf. Some people consider that the deep friendship between Bella and Jacob, which shows mutual understanding, respect and caring, to be a sound foundation for a good marriage, while others hold that love involves sexual attraction and determination to be together and what happens between Bella and Edward fits these criteria perfectly. In this sense, Jacob is but an intruder and Bella is destined to be with Edward from the very beginning. However, choosing Edward means that Bella has to transform herself from a human being to a vampire, which means she would lead a total different life from before. In contrast, if she chooses Jacob, she could stay what she was and enjoy a life with her original family and that of Jocab's.
Discussion topic: If you were Bella, which man would you choose, Jacob or Edward? Do you mind making really big changes to cope with the life with your spouse?
I'm Lester 96540310. I would choose Edward. Because it's destined to be like that. Morever, I don't mind making really big changes for my lover.

ReplyDeleteI would follow my feelings and stick with Edward as long as we share a mutual agreement that he will remain a vegetarian. On the other hand, there will be difficult times if I do so. The first thing I have to face is the aging problem—the vampire still looks like a seventeen high school guy when I am seventy.
Even if we are all willing to adjust ourselves for the ones we love, some things never change, and which are not easy to ignore.

ReplyDeleteEdward doesn't mind Bella growing old, as he said,because it is natural for a human to age, and he wants her to remain human. He himself has long wanted to remain human but he just could not. However, Bella does not think so; she wants to become a vampire, just like Edward and his family. This is a point of argument in Book One.
Edward loves Bella and he wants her to remain herself, while Bella wants to change her life-form because of her love for Edward.
On the other hand, Edward tries to decide things for Bella and even restrict her to do certain things, while Jacob understands what Bella really wants and would help her to get it. Edward restricts Bella while Jacob knows Bella. These two men have different ways of showing love.
I think the key to happiness is self-understanding. What kind of person are you?
Some people would prefer a love relationship with profound friendship as the foundation. However, others listen to their passions, even if it is short-term infatuation, and seek fulfillment in a fairy-tale wedding. After the wedding, of course, some couples develop deeper love while others go on separate roads. It depends on the maturity of our personality and the compatibility between the spouces.

I would try to convince her. Since i am already in love with the one i love, i won't be as happier as i was if i were with Jacob.

ReplyDeleteIf you insist, you Mom would probably give you two her blessing--even though she truely considers Jabob would make a better mate for you. However, she is not you. She loves you and wish you most happiness. Therefore, for your sake, she would eventually say YES. However, it's your life. Once you make up your mind, you will have to live with your decision and make the marriage work. If you are happy, your Mom will be happy too.

After I watch the movie for many times, I really like Edward very much. Definitely, I would choose Edward for his good looking and for Vampire. In the movie, Bella has a great influences to Edward. For this main reason, I would choose Edward.

Jacob is caring and considerate but he's just an old friend of bella and if i were bella, i can't really be together with some guy who's been friends of mine for a long time. I treasure my true friends in life, but there just won't be any chemistry in between, that's just me though. Besides, i think werewolves died eventually, they age too, just like a normal human being, so i'd prefer being with edward and then live eternally. i wouldn't mind coping with my spouse only if he's edward cullen, haha :D

I will choose Edward without hesitated since he is so cute! Beside his charm, i think it is very important for every one to go for the one you truly love. Although Edward is a vimpire, as long as he can control his desire of drinking my blood i will still feel safe and happy to be with him. I think it is very important that one should always feel happy to be with his/ her spouse, so if Bella thinks he is the one who can bring her all the happiness and joy then she sould stick with Edward forever. However, I still can't understand why Edward so insist not letting Bella trun into a vimpire since by doing this can safe Bella or himself from many unnecessarily troubles such as worry that Bella will be the meal of others.

I would choose Edward. To say the truth, at the first sight I don't think he is very handsome anyway. But, you know what point attract me to love him so much? Because of the "protection" for Bella. He says many times to Bella to be careful no matter walking or something. wherever Bella is dangerous, he would come up to rescue her. The most important point of all is that─the true love. Nowadays, how difficult for a person to concentrate just on one peole. And everybody can see how strong about Edward's love for Bella. Everbody is touched so deeped. I am even in tears when Edward comes to rescue Bella from the bad vampire, and Edward can't defeat for himself; therefore, both Bella and Edward fall down on the floor . For Edward, I think he must dosen't care about himself but Bella. and his heart must crying when he see the picture that Bella get hurt.

Although there are still some women love the latter more than the former, i think Edward really shows us a good demonstration about how to love our own mate. In my opinion, i will trust that people will fall in love with their lover at first sight. Despite that Edward is an vampire, i think Bella should chase what she really wants. I would choose Edward, not just because of the better apperance. He really tries his best to protect Bella, and he doesn't hide his love for her. His every action and movement showing how he cares about Bella. With that care, then you can feel the true love from others. And I also believe that love can overcome all obstacles. If I am Bella, if not to consider with apperance, I would choose Jacob. I think although Edward really has something that could make me totally fall for him, but if I want a steady and peaceful life, I cannot live with him. To be with Edward, the future seems to be unknown and dangerous. But if I choose to be with Jacob, I can live a human life. To another question, I think I can make a big changes to cope with the life with my spouse if it is really worth to. Because we are together, changes are already been made from my life. If I were Bella, I would choose Edward. I think that when I fall in love with someone deeply, it is difficult for me to change my mind again. I can do anything for my lover, even become a vampire. I think Jacob must have the same mood as Bella, so he is willing to protect and help Bella without complains. Edward may not understand Bella’s thought and he is not so considerate, but I know that he is learning little by little just because he loves her. Trust and support are the foundation of love, and I think Bella and Edward can live a happy life if they follow this admonition.

After watching this movie, the love between Bella and Edward greatly made me touched. If I were Bella, of course, I would like to choose Edward. If I were Bella, I would choose Edward for sure. I think Love is interactive, so it is useless if it is one-sided. For Bella, She regards Jacob as her friend who can protect her and listen to her. However, it seems that Jacob misunderstands. I believe Bella loves Edward very much. She never changes her mind even though Edward chooses to leave Forks, leave her. I would choose Edward since he is the first man whom Bella falls in love with. It’s hard for people to change their mind when they really fell in love with someone. Though Edward leaves Bella for a long time in the second book, his love for Bella doesn’t change. Though Jacob is very nice to Bella and knows what she wants, Bella still loves Edward and finally rushes to rescue Edward. If I were Bella, I would accept to become a vampire. By becoming a vampire, she could stay with Edward forever. Making big changes for the one we love is needed if we really love the person.

I don't think that Bella is really in love with Jacob when Edward is gone. That's not love but consolation for her loneliness as Edward, her lover, went away. She still loves Edward in the deep of her heart, but just gets confused by the consolation she receives from Jacob. So if I were Bella, I would choose Edward.

I would choose neither of them since both of them are not human beings. I admire Bella for her courage and for her sacrifice toward their relationship and of course, Edward also makes efforts. In my opinion, when in any relationships, you should always prepare to change, sacrifice. If it would make your relationship better, then why not? But I have on condition, I can make a change, but I can't make sucha big change as Bella will do. I can't imagine that I am a vampire; I can't imagine that I thirst for animals' or people's blood; I can't imagine with my mouth full of red blood. That is miserable.

For Jacob, I would not choose one of my best friends as my spouse, because I prefer to have him as an intimate friend who understands and respects me just as a close friend because for me close friends are like my family members so I do not want to change the holy relationship of friend ship into another relationship. As for Edward, I would not choose a vampire because I am not willing to change myself into a vampire, and if I do not change myself into a vampire but still keep the love relationship, then besides all the physical and psychological differences between us, Edward, me and both of our families will face lots of troubles as we saw in the movie. And I would not change myself into a vampire for good reasons, such as I do not want to leave my family members for a love relationship which no one can guarantee its eternity and outcome. What if Bella changes herself into a vampire and after some time she and Edward break up their relationship? What will she feel? Chooses another vampire or changes another person into a vampire? Not easy to decide or even to think of. Moreover, I much prefer to cherish my every moment in this life as a human being, because we as human beings have many options in this life to choose just like our food. Furthermore, we (humans) will get sick and will encounter many problems which make us to know the value of health and happiness, because if we do not face those problems, then we do not know the value of the good staffs in our life and we will never be satisfied with what we have. Besides, life of the vampires we saw in the movie seems very routine with out any special changes just for example: they have no option for choosing their food, they have to stay in the same age (which I do not think to be good because if no one gets old and no one dies just imagine the world, especially vampires’ world, I think they will eat each other), another routine of their life is they can not go to their supposed work or fields of study on sunny days only on cloudy and rainy or snowy days, and they can not socialize with many people as well. One more, just imagine when you have big problems and you need some brain rest but you do not have the option of sleeping :(. Therefore, for All the reasons I mentioned above, I would not choose any of them.

If I were Bella, I would choose Edward, a man is charming and rich. More importantly, he is my true love. I don’t believe the life without financial support could survive in modern times. To be realistic and to plan for a better future, a generous husband will be much better.

If my spouse strongly encourages me to take or obey his suggestion of changing my living style, I would wonder his motivation and explore his reason of convincing me to do so. Actually, if I were Bella, I wouldn’t choose any of them, because they are not human-beings. If I see my loved one becoming a werewolf, I would be scared to death. Moreover, wouldn’t a werewolf lose his mind when turning into a werewolf? I’m afraid that I might be attacked by him. As for Edward, even if he says that he would love me when I get old, it is possible that he might change his mind. If I want to stay young forever, then I have to become a vampire. But I don’t want to become a vampire either, because they cannot taste the various flavors of food and they have to re-experience a certain stage of life, like Edward, staying as a seventeen-year-old high school student forever. Life would be so dull if I were a vampire.

It depends on what kind of big changes that I have to make when I have to cope with the life with my spouse. If it is the kind of change that we can deal with together, then I don’t mind making big changes. But if it is the change that I have to become a vampire, then I do mind.

In the background setting in the movie, Edward is unparalleled, in strength, in financial condition, in appearance, etc. so who else to choose to be a lifetime partner? Practically, if I were Bella, I think I would choose none of the two. Just think about it, both Edward and Jacob are inhuman-Edward is a vampire and Jacob is a werewolf! How can you guarantee that Bella won't be teared apart by the werewolf Jacob as she avoid being bitten by leaving the vampire Edward. As for the second question, I have to say that we have to face the reality. If I were a character in a fairy tale or something like that, I might just go for what I want, but it's almost impossible being hurt when taking adventures.

My answer is that I would choose Jacob. Although Edward is handsome, cute and strong, he is not human being. I can’t stay with a vampire because it is so wired to me. For Jacob, Bella and he is an old friend. They know each other very well because without knowing each other you can’t make sure that you will have a better life with your girl friend or your wife. I don’t mind making really changes for my lover because I can sacrifice everything for my spouse.

For the first question, it depends. In the first episode, if I were Bella, I would choose Edward. His numerous strange behaviors would definitely raise my curiosity. It makes me have the desire to want to know more about him. What’s more, Edward has saved me from danger twice. It easily makes me have the appreciation for him. And after I have more interaction with him, the passion comes out naturally. While for Jacob, in the first episode, I only have few interactions with him. Every time, He just comes out surprisingly and says something strangely. Therefore, I think it is normal for me to choose Edward instead of Jacob.

Although becoming a vampire would face the problem that they have to watch the people they love die, like their parents, Bella can stay with Edward forever. Isn’t it a good thing? Although someone may say that their love and their passion may end one day, at least they have had a great time together.

If i were bella, I would definately choose Edward, Edward is much richer, better looking, stronger than Jacob, and Edward took a much more aggresive move than Jacob to get close to bella, maybe Jacob is much more of a introvert kind of a person. But I've seen the trailer of the New moon, Jacob has alot more scenes in it, maybe he will be more popular than Edward in new moon.

Be cause I dont wanna be a skin-deep person to choose Edward, just due to his good looking, rich, etc. To make a big change for coging with your mate, I think it's only temporary, after a period of time, your nature still will appear. ReplyDeleteIf i were Bella, I will choose Jacob. Sometimes you choose who loves you is much happier than choose who you love. I always believe that. I have my own family. To leave my pareents, and transfor myself to become a vanpire is not a good decision. For me, that's too selfish. I decide to choose Jacob, and I believe he will be nice to me.
Compared to J's understanding and endless effort in silence, E is unbelievablely selfish and dictatorial. E uncovered his love toward B disregarding the danger and enormous changes in result of their love, and E walked away from B whenever he felt desperate or hopeless. But if I were B, I would still choose E instead of J. I need someone who dares to love me and be with me despite all the difficulties and danger rather than a man who unselfishly gives me away for my own good and sacrifice our precious love. Moreover, who can resist bad boys?!
ReplyDeleteEdward! If I were Bella I would choose him. Even though Edward is absent, I believe their love won’t change since they had the strong desire to be together. Jacob won’t exist to be the third person. Love can make people be crazy, the power of be together with Edward is definitely bigger than stay normal with Jacob. Therefore, Edward wins! Besides, to the second question, I am not sure. It depends.

To stand for Edward, I think it’s reasonable to stop Bella from being a vampire. Though being a vampire can keep young forever, there is something you can’t go through, such as eating food. Their life is the same every moment. It was kind of boring. On the other hand, as Bella, I would like to become a vampire to stay with Edward, the true in my life. It was a heart touching love story. If you love a person, you will be willing to stay with him ever and ever. It’s hard to make decision. I don’t want to be a vampire, but I want to stay with my love. A life is not enough. However, to me real feeling, I like to be a vampire and stay with my only true love. Maybe it will be interesting to see how the world changes with time. 96540319 Emily
ReplyDeleteIf I were Bella, I would choose Edward because Jacob is too young and too impetuous. In 'New Moon,' he even takes Bella to do some dangerous activities which almost kill her. On the contrary, Edward is calm and mature. He thinks before he leaps. Besides, he takes good care of Bella. He always tries to prevent her from being hurt. Therefore, without doubt, I would choose Edward to be my lifetime spouse.

I won't let my happiness decided by others. What's more, I won't mind making big changes to cope with the life with my spouse, because I love him, and love is the best answer.

If I were Bella, I would choose Edward. I think love is important. Even Edward is a vampire, he is the person Bella loves. Likewise, Edward understands Bella more than Jacob dose. I think love is the foundation. I am willing to make big change to cope with the life with my spouse. Although the process must be difficult, it is worthwhile.
